MAKE INSTRUCTIONAL BLOGS A PART OF YOUR CONTENT MARKETING STRATEGY

Content marketing requires several different components if it’s going to be successful and increase a business’ brand visibility. One of the essential components that companies can’t skip over is blogging.

Blogging has become the bread and butter of content marketing. They’re useful, not too time-consuming on the reader’s end, and can be posted frequently. Just as there are different components of content marketing, there are several different types of blogs that businesses can post.

One of which is known as the instructional blog. This blog is written in a casual tone and has a tangible purpose that is relevant and helpful to readers. In addition, instructional blogs are likely to be found on Google and other search engines when people type in those keywords.

A recent Forbes article discusses different types of blogs and how businesses can use them. According to the article, instructional blogs are likely to appear in search results as long as they’re written about a niche topic:

“Instructional posts are great for SEO because they contain natural language that indicates the purpose of the article—meaning, if someone searches for something like “how to make a peanut butter sandwich,” it’s very likely that your “how to make a peanut butter sandwich” article will appear in search results. However, since instructional posts are becoming more common, it’s wiser to select a less obvious, more niche-focused subject matter for your posts.”

Let’s take an IT support company as an example. If they post an instructional blog about how to set up a router, it’s probably not going to generate a lot of traffic or gain a lot of attention. Why? Because there are probably thousands of identical articles that have already been written on the topic.

On the other hand, let’s consider what would happen if that company wrote an instructional blog informing readers what to do when their Netgear N600-WiFi Router has an orange Internet light and isn’t providing Internet access. When people Google that exact router, the business has a real chance of their blog coming up in the search results.
